You get a single rosette around the sound hole, some diamond and square fret markers on the 5th,7th and 9th and that's about it for decoration. 正直に言いますと、私はJames Taylorの初期のアコギの音に憧れていつかはGibson J-50を欲しいと思っていたTypeなのでMartinの音には全く興味がありませんでした。大人になってJ-50を手に入れてからはやっぱりアコギは撫肩のJ-50またはJ-45が一番という思いがますます強くなりましたが、気まぐれで東海楽器のCat’s EyeやYAMAHAのAC3Rを買ったこともありました。でもやっぱりアコギは、Side・BackがMahoganyでなければダメです。そんなある日、Martin D-15を弾く機会がたまたまありました。いつもならMartinを試奏することなんてあり得なかったのですが、一度近所の楽器店で冷やかし半分に弾いてみたところ、このGuitarの独特な音にどっぷりはまってしまいました。実のところ、その日以来寝ても覚めてもこのGuitarの音に取り憑かれどうしても手に入れてみたくなりました。そこでSound HouseさんのHPを覗いたところお手ごろ価格になっていたこともあり購入に至った訳ですが、当初それほど期待してはいませんでした。平行輸入品の安かろう悪かろうという感じできっと購入してからRepair manに見てもらわなければ到底使えないシロモノだと覚悟しての購入だったからです。しかし届いた商品は、弦高もきちんと調整されており、Neckも若干順ゾリ気味で（これは独特なNeck Joint角度によるのが影響しているようですが）とても弾きやすくこちらの予想を大きく裏切ってくれました。またNeckだけではなくTopまでMahoganyという仕様でよりきらびやかな音が前に出てくる感じがします。Mahogany BodyのGuitarは、Flat PickでStrokeした音が好きという方がたくさんいらっしゃるかと思いますが、私はFlat PickでもFinger PickingでもアルペジオやThree Fingerで弾いた音が好きですね。枯れた音と表現される方もいてBlues系に向いているという方もいらっしゃるようですが、私は、70年代のBritish Traditional Folkや日本のFolk songを弾くにはもってこいの音だと思います。しばらくは、J-45よりもこちらを弾く機会が増えそうです。, 温かみのある中低域が気持ち良すぎてずっと弾いてしまいます。
人によっては低域がクドイと感じるかもしれませんが、決してコモることのないクリアなサウンドが絶妙。
